about us
Why was SDSTG set up?
Many tutors (of all subjects) have for a long time had nowhere to go for support. During late 2004 meetings were held to discuss the possibility of setting up such a group. The group will encompass the needs of all tutors of all subjects within communication skills with Deaf/deaf and deafblind people.
What are the Aims of SDSTG?
The main aim of the group is quite simple - to provide a forum where like-minded people can meet, discuss, share and learn from each other.
Various events will be held which will allow tutors to access up-to-date information and developments.
We also hope to create a Code of Practice for tutors and also to encourage the provision of high quality, recognised Tutor Training programmes - both of which will promote and increase the credibility of tutors.
Who can join SDSTG?
Any tutor who lives and works in Scotland
and teaches or assesses a course that leads to a Signature/CACDP qualification.
Who runs SDTG?
The group has a co-ordinating committee who initially came from a small number of interested tutors. The committee will meet at least three times a year and have the responsibility to organise events in response to the needs of all tutors.
Committee meetings will be attended by a representative from CACDP and in addition the committee will be able to 'co-opt' any other person who may have skills or knowledge that will benefit the group and its aims.
