Deaf Awareness & Communication Who is this for? Developing Awareness and Communication with Deaf & Deafblind People (DAC1) is primarily aimed at everyone who is in contact with the general public. Especially those who are in frontline public services.
What is included in the course? With around 1-in-7 of the adult population being deaf to some extent and experience communication barriers in everyday life we have a number of solutions to your training needs. This course provides an introduction to, and a basic knowledge of, the whole range of D/deaf and deafblind people (i.e. deaf, deafened, deafblind, hard of hearing, Deaf BSL users, Deaf visually impaired, blind hearing impaired and people with congenital deafblindness). Basic Deaf Awareness & Who is this for? As with DAC1 this course is suitable for all service providers who service the public or work in an environment where there is contact with deaf people.

Other courses Sensory Impairment Awareness This course raises some of the issues around sensory impairment, it teaches basic communication skills and introduces resources available for deaf, blind and deafblind people. It covers several areas of visual and hearing impairment and builds on a foundation provided by the social model of disability. British Sign Language (BSL) Working with others, we are in an ideal position to offer BSL courses at all levels, or we can devise a mixed course that includes elements of Deaf Awareness and an Introduction to Sign Language.
Communication with Deafblind People We can offer a number of courses focusing on communication skills with Deafblind People at a higher level. |
